Learning Tailored for the Child
We see it time and time again in the UK - students who do not get the time, resources and support they need to succeed in education. Schools, parents and learners are all trying to work as hard as they can to do right by the child, but the inflexibility and funding limits add more barriers and make it impossible.
This is where Equity Education comes in, as our motto says: bridging the gap in education.
Our Vision
Through our focus on tailored English learning, Equity Education offers bespoke packages to students and their families to fit learning goals, needs and ambitions for the future. We offer a mix of individual, group, online and face-to-face tutoring sessions that can form part of a student’s home-schooling, SEND or after school support.
Additionally, English teaching is not where our duty to our learners ends; the welfare of students at Equity Education always remains the number one priority. In registering as a member of our community, even with just one weekly session a week, students have access to bookable 1:1 pastoral check-ins, a trained Designated Safeguard Lead (DSL) and help aside from lessons.
Equity Education operates around the Surrey and Hampshire border area for individual tutoring and currently offers group sessions for KS3 and GCSE English students in Liphook, Farnham and Haslemere. Our Owner
Bekkie Roberts is a qualified English teacher who has worked in a variety of settings, including mainstream, private and SEND school settings. Her experience, in both support staff and teaching roles, has developed her interest and insight into the strengths and limitations of current educational pathways, particularly for students who are academically capable but unable to cope socially, emotionally, or practically with full-time provision.
Over the course of her school career, Bekkie repeatedly saw students slip through the net: learners who were clearly struggling, but who did not always meet the threshold for specialist provision, despite facing serious barriers to attendance, engagement, and wellbeing. These were often students who met or were above age-related expectations (ARE) but because of their ability to just “cope”, their needs were misunderstood, minimised, or left unmet.
Bekkie also is impacted by her personal experience as a neurodivergent person with long-term health condition. Her individual and professional experience both motivate her educational interest in the connection between adverse childhood experiences (ACEs), neurodivergence and the long-term impact of inappropriate school placements. This passion is at the heart of Equity Education, as well as regular professional development and current research at the forefront of academic and educational studies.
Bekkie believe students should not have to reach crisis point to receive suitable support. Instead, she built Equity Education to provide inclusive and realistic pathways for each learner, that adequately challenge their academic potential while providing compassionate and empathetic education. Quality education is more than just achieving qualifications: it encompasses skills, self-confidence, and the personal growth that young people need to flourish in life.
